What is the Tien VO MD Scholarship?
The Tien VO MD Scholarship is a $1,000 award established by Dr. Tien Vo, a physician, to support deserving undergraduate and graduate students at accredited U.S. colleges and universities. The scholarship has no minimum GPA requirement and is open to students of all majors and backgrounds.
Is there a minimum GPA requirement?
No. The Tien VO MD Scholarship has no minimum cumulative GPA requirement. Dr. Vo believes that academic potential cannot always be captured by a single number, and this scholarship is designed to be accessible to all students regardless of their GPA.
Who is eligible to apply for the Tien VO MD Scholarship?
Any student currently enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university is eligible. This includes undergraduate and graduate students in any field of study. The scholarship is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students enrolled at U.S. institutions.

When is the application deadline?
The application deadline is March 10, 2027. All applications must be submitted by this date to be considered for the award.
When will the winner be announced?
The $1,000 award recipient will be notified and the award disbursed by April 10, 2027.
Is there an application fee?
No. There is no fee to apply for the Tien VO MD Scholarship. The application process is completely free.
Who is Dr. Tien Vo?
Dr. Tien Vo, MD, is a physician with over twenty years of clinical experience serving the Imperial Valley and Coachella Valley in Southern California. A Vietnamese refugee who came to the U.S. as a child, Dr. Vo is the founder of Legacy MD Medical Group and EasyAccess Care IPA. He gained national recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic as the “Rock Star Doctor” for his community health efforts.
What is the difference between the Tien VO MD Scholarship and the Tien VO MD Grant?
Both are $1,000 awards for students at accredited U.S. institutions. The key difference is that the Tien VO MD Scholarship has no minimum GPA requirement, while the Tien VO MD Grant requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Both are open to undergraduate and graduate students of all majors.
Can I apply for both the scholarship and the grant?
Yes. If you meet the eligibility requirements for both programs, you are welcome to apply for both the Tien VO MD Scholarship and the Tien VO MD Grant separately.
How is the scholarship funded?
The Tien VO MD Scholarship is personally funded by Dr. Tien Vo as part of his commitment to education and community investment. It reflects his belief that every student deserves a fair opportunity to pursue higher education.
