Our Mission
The Tien Vo MD Scholarship exists to remove financial barriers that prevent deserving students from pursuing higher education. Founded by Dr. Tien Vo, a physician who understands firsthand the challenges of pursuing education without financial resources, this scholarship represents a commitment to investing in the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and change-makers.
Unlike many traditional scholarships that impose strict academic thresholds, the Tien VO MD Scholarship has no minimum GPA requirement. This deliberate choice reflects Dr. Vo’s understanding that academic potential cannot always be captured by a single number.
Our Vision
We envision a future where financial constraints do not determine who can access quality education. The Tien VO MD Scholarship aims to be a catalyst for change — helping students from all walks of life complete their degrees, enter their chosen professions, and give back to their own communities.
By supporting students across all disciplines and at every level of higher education, we hope to foster a diverse community of scholarship recipients who will carry forward the values of service, resilience, and compassion that define Dr. Vo’s own career.

Meet the Founder: Dr. Tien Vo
From Vietnamese refugee to physician to philanthropist
Tien Vo, MD, is a physician with over twenty years of clinical experience serving the medically underserved communities of the Imperial Valley and Coachella Valley in Southern California. His personal story is one of resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to community service.
Born in Vietnam, Dr. Vo and his family fled the country as refugees, eventually settling in the United States. Growing up in a new country with limited English and few financial resources, he experienced the very barriers that many of today’s students face. Through hard work, community support, and access to educational opportunities, Dr. Vo earned his medical degree and went on to build a distinguished career in medicine.
Today, Dr. Vo serves as the founder and CEO of Legacy MD Medical Group and EasyAccess Care IPA. He gained national recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic for his tireless efforts to provide testing and vaccination services along the California–Mexico border, earning the title “Rock Star Doctor” from the Associated Press.
The Tien VO MD Scholarship, along with the Tien VO MD Grant, represents his dedication to ensuring that the next generation has the resources they need to succeed.
